Snow Stress

The recent string of snow storms has taken a toll on all of us.  Here are a few recommended tips for dealing with snow stress:

  • Keep yourself occupied.  Read a good book or listen to music.
  • Go outside for a walk and enjoy the snow.  Being active is good for the spirit and for your mental health.
  • Stay in touch with family and friends - make sure everyone is okay, especially if they are alone.
  • Make sure you have an emergency plan - just in case you need it.
People often get anxious or depressed when they experience factors out of their control - especially during the cold weather and dark winter months.  If you or someone you know is feeling anxious or depressed, remember there is a wide network of resources and support services to help.

Please call FAMILYConnections at 973-675-3817 or visit our website at www.familyconnectionsnj.org.  Additional resources are available at www.samhsa.gov or the National Helpline (1 800-662-HELP or 1 800-487-4889).

In the words of Annie, "the sun will come out tomorrow."  Stay warm and safe.
