S.O. Resident Arrested for Giving False Report in Short Hills

A South Orange man was arrested after allegedly reporting a false emergency at the Hilton Short Hills.

Dennis J. Perrella, 55, was charged with reporting a false public alarm for an incident on May 4.

Police received a 911 phone call at 8:37 a.m. saying that a woman had fallen in the lobby bathroom at the Hilton, which is located at 41 John F. Kennedy Parkway.

Police said the dispatcher determined the call was placed from a pay telephone located at the Mall at Short Hills bus stop on Canoe Brook Road, and officials found there was no incident or emergency happening.

An officer responded to the pay telephone at the bus stop and subsequently arrested Perrella, police said.
