S.O. Woman, 33, Arrested in CHS Fight

A total of five people—one adult female and four juvenile males—were arrested in two altercations at CHS on Monday.

On the afternoon of Monday, Nov. 16, Maplewood police officers responded to the inside of Columbia High School on a report of a juvenile-versus-juvenile assault. After receiving a description of the alleged actor, officers quickly located the juvenile on West Parker Avenue and placed him under arrest. Juvenile charges are forthcoming.

While police were still on scene, they escorted the initial victim and his mother to their car in the school parking lot. A second altercation ensued involving the victim outside of the school, where a large crowd gathered. With the assistance of South Orange police, officers were able to disperse the crowd, and one adult female and three juvenile males were taken into custody.

The woman, Kalimah Farid, 33, of South Orange, was charged with Aggravated Assault on a Police Officer, Resisting Arrest and Improper Behavior. Juvenile charges are forthcoming, pending further investigation by Maplewood's Youth Aid Bureau. No weapons were involved in the incident. One juvenile received minor bruises to his face and was evaluated by the Maplewood Fire Department/EMS before refusing further medical attention.
