Social Media Post About Alleged Robbery Leads To East Orange Man's Arrest: Police

The East Orange man was hiding under the bed when police arrived to arrest him, authorities say.

Police have apprehended a fourth suspect in a robbery and assault that took place earlier this month near Broad and Market streets in Newark.

On Monday, authorities entered a North 6th Street home and arrested Corey Sabb, 21, of East Orange, who was allegedly hiding under the bed when police arrived.

According to the Newark Police Department, Sabb is suspected to be one of five men – one of whom is still at large – who allegedly robbed and assaulted a 28-year-old Newark resident on Jan. 10.

Newark officers first learned of the incident via a social media post made later that day, a NPD spokesman stated.

After viewing the post, officers assigned to the Metro Division – which is tasked to cover the downtown area – “readily recognized” several of the suspects, authorities stated.

Three of the suspects were apprehended last week: Jahid Smith, 18, of Irvington, Joshua Craig, 18, of Newark, and Julio C. Pendola, 28, of Newark.

Police are still searching for the remaining suspect, Trevone Craig, 22, of Irvington.
