SOPAC Nominated for a People’s Choice Award

The (SOPAC) has recently been nominated for a JerseyArts.com People’s Choice Award, a recognition that puts it in the top tier of performing arts centers in the state.

SOPAC is one of seven nominees for New Jersey’s “Favorite Performing Arts Centers” for 2012, their third time being nominated for the award since opening in 2006.  Residents can go to JerseyArts.com/peopleschoice and vote for SOPAC. 

Voting is open now through midnight, Jan. 18, 2012.  Winners will be announced on JerseyArts.com in early February.

"I am delighted that SOPAC has be nominated for a People’s Choice Award as New Jersey’s Best Performing Arts Center," SOPAC Executive Artistic Director Michael Bollinger told Patch.  "I ask all SOPAC patrons, as well as residents of South Orange and Maplewood to take a couple minutes to vote for us!"

The JerseyArts.com People’s Choice Awards features 59 nominated organizations across 14 different categories.  Organizations are nominated for the awards by their peers through the Jersey Arts Marketers network, made up of hundreds of nonprofit cultural groups statewide. 

SOPAC joins other local nominees, , being recognized this year.

JerseyArts.com is the official website of Discover Jersey Arts, a cosponsored project of the New Jersey State Council on the Arts and ArtPride New Jersey Foundation. The site provides a comprehensive cultural event calendar, online arts directory, podcast, membership program, and a variety of other resources aimed at increasing the awareness of and participation in the arts in New Jersey.
