About Lynette Sheard

Lynette Sheard was born in Newark NJ currently residing in West Orange. A self–professed late bloomer who began performing in 2008 after winning a local vocal competition at the Oscar Schindler Performing Arts Center singing a song about chicken to an instrumental version of Etta James' At last. The performance was a landmark. The musical journey began at that moment. Lynette was recruited by musicians because of her willingness to learn, professionalism, positive attitude and ability to sing any genre albeit pop, rock, soul, gospel, jazz, or R&B. A lover of artistic expression and the creative process she ventured into theater and staged performances. These performances have earned her audience praise and accolades. Words used to describe her live performances are passionate, powerful, anointed, and awesome.

She has shared the stage with Grammy winning musicians and Broadway stars including those in The Lion King, and The Phantom of the Opera, Lynette is a multi-talented and versatile vocalist with a five octave range and perfect pitch. She acts, produces, directs and is vocal coach. Her performances have been acknowledged in numerous publications including, The NY Times, Broadway World, The Record, Hot House, The Patch and The Chronicle. The Star Ledger proclaimed that, “Her voice reaches deep into one’s soul and finds a soft spot”.

They voted for weeks, through different rounds of NJ.com's contest to find the best downtown in the state. Now, the results are in, and the winner is ... drumroll please ... Cranford!
