South Mountain School's Got Talent

The annual variety show was held on Thursday night.

A third grader reciting Shakespeare. Another third grader jumping on a pogo stick to the tune of the Charlie Brown theme song. Over 50 acts—and roughly 90 third- through fifth-grade participants—were divided into two 1 1/2-hour long shows at the sixth annual South Mountain School Variety Show, which was held Thursday night.

"I love how excited the kids are about performing, and their smiles at the end," said Melanie Leslie, one of the four co-directors of the variety show.

According to Leslie, student participation in the show skyrocketed this year. The show featured several comedy acts, songs ranging from The Beatles to Taylor Swift, pianists and dancers. There were also acrobats and jump ropers.
