South Orange and Maplewood Girls Basketball Tryouts

The Recreation Departments sponsor basketball teams that travel and compete in the Suburban Essex League.  The league is comprised of teams representing other nearby towns.  Teams are formed based on the results of competitive tryouts.  After tryouts, practices are held 2-4 times per week until the start of the season.  Thereafter, the teams play 2 games per week and have 1-2 practices per week, on average.  Parents/guardians are responsible for arranging transportation to and from practices and games and may be asked to assist with the program in other ways.  The season ends mid to late February.

Registration fee:  $150 - $175 is due upon selection to the team.

ALL GIRLS trying out for GIRLS Suburban League teams MAY be residents of EITHER South Orange OR Maplewood.  Unlike previous years, South Orange/Maplewood will field ONE COMBINED teams of girls in the following grade levels.

All players are expected to attend all scheduled tryouts.

5th & 6th grade girls;

Tuesday Oct 21          6:00-7:30pm     Maplewood Middle School

Thursday Oct 23        6:00-7:30pm     Maplewood Middle School

7th grade girls;

Monday Oct 20           6:00-7:30pm    Maplewood Middle School

Wednesday Oct 22     6:00-7:30pm    Maplewood Middle School

8th grade girls;

Tuesday Oct 21           7:30-9:00pm     South Orange Middle School

Saturday Oct 25          9:00-10:30am   South Orange Middle School
