South Orange Man Chases Off Alleged Car Burglar On Christmas: Police

The Meeker Street resident told police that he looked out his window to see a man with a black backpack in one of his vehicles.

South Orange, NJ – A South Orange man allegedly chased off a possible car burglar on Christmas after seeing the man outside his window in his driveway, police stated.

According to the South Orange Police Department, the incident took place around 3:53 a.m. on Dec. 25, when a Meeker Street resident allegedly heard someone in his driveway.

According to the resident, he looked out his window to see a male in a white t-shirt and carrying a black backpack in one of his vehicles.

At that time the resident “confronted the actor,” who fled the scene on foot, police said.

Officers responded to the area and checked for suspects with negative results, police stated.

No items were removed from the vehicles that were parked in the resident’s driveway, authorities added.
