South Orange Man Robbed At Gunpoint On Valley Street: Police

A man allegedly armed with a handgun stole a South Orange pedestrian's wallet then struck him in the face, police say.

SOUTH ORANGE, NJ — A South Orange pedestrian told police that an armed man robbed him on Valley Street last weekend, authorities say.

According to the South Orange Police Department, the victim told officers that he was walking on Valley Street near First Street around 9:55 p.m. on Saturday when a man armed with a black handgun approached and demanded that he hand over his wallet.

The man then allegedly struck the victim in the face and fled the scene, police said.

The victim suffered a nose injury during the incident; officers’ attempts to locate the suspect were unsuccessful, authorities said.

Police said the victim described his attacker as a black male about six feet with a medium build, with an unshaven face, and wearing a denim jacket over a navy-blue hooded sweatshirt, blue jeans and white sneakers.
