South Orange Police Arrest Alleged Serial Car Burglar
The man has confessed to six burglaries and more charges are pending, South Orange police say.

SOUTH ORANGE, NJ — South Orange police have arrested a man that they believe may be responsible for several recent vehicle break-ins in the township, authorities say.
According to the South Orange Police Department, the alleged car burglaries occurred Wednesday evening.
Police say that a security camera captured an image of George Brown, the suspected burglar. When South Orange detectives recognized Brown’s photo, they moved to apprehend him at his home.

Brown subsequently confessed to six separate burglaries and more charges are pending, police said.
Authorities issued a warning on Thursday for local residents to keep their car doors locked.

“We at the South Orange Police cannot stress enough, the importance of locking your doors,” police wrote. “90 percent of burglaries occur to unlocked car and residential doors/windows. Equally as important, call us immediately upon seeing suspicious activity.”
