South Orange Police Blotter: Harassment, Drug Arrests

The following arrest information was supplied by the South Orange police department. It does not indicate a conviction.

  • A contractor working for a resident on Montrose Avenue said his tools, which were kept in a garage in the house, were stolen sometime between Feb. 10 and Feb. 18. Two saws, a drill and a tool bag valued at $1,000, were reported missing.

  • A South Orange resident reported between 2:50 p.m. and 3:50 p.m. on Feb. 17, someone stole her 2000 Chrysler while it was parked on Holland Road.

  • Isaiah Upchurch, 22, of Newark, was arrested on Feb. 17, at approximately 10:30 p.m., for possession of marijuana, drug paraphernalia and other items used for drug packaging. An officer thought Upchurch was acting suspiciously in the area of Fairview and  South Orange avenues. Upchurch was watched for a period of time and continued to act suspiciously, at one point going behind a privately owned building and then reappearing a short time later. When questioned by an officer, the drug paraphernalia was discovered.

  • Troy Jackson, 49, of Irvington, was arrested on Feb. 19, at approximately 2 a.m. after officers responded to a call on Valley Street regarding a woman being harassed by a man.  When police arrived, Jackson refused to comply with the officer’s orders to cease his harassing and combative activity. As a result, Jackson was subsequently placed under arrest.  

  • A Glenside Road resident said sometime between 5 p.m. and 7:45 p.m. on Feb. 19, someone broke into a 1998 Mercedes by smashing in the driver's side window. Once inside the vehicle, the person ransacked the glove box.  No items were reported stolen. The vehicle was parked in front of the residence on the street.

  • Julio Ramirez, 25, of Newark was arrested on Feb. 21 at approximately 1:15 a.m., for driving while under the influence. An officer noticed Ramirez driving his Chevy Trailblazer on Ward Place. The vehicle had heavy front end damage. After stopping the car, it was determined Ramirez was intoxicated and he was taken into custody. Further investigation revealed Ramirez had struck a pole on Berkley Avenue.

  • Megan Baguchinsky, a 19 year old Monmouth Junction resident, was arrested on Feb. 21, at approximately 10 p.m., after officers saw her exit A&D Deli on Valley St. in possession of alcohol.
