South Orange Recommended For $500K Library Grant

The whopping, $500,000 grant would help to preserve the exterior of the Connett Memorial Library, officials say.

SOUTH ORANGE, NJ — South Orange was recently recommended for a whopping, $500,000 grant to help preserve the exterior of the Connett Memorial Library, officials say.

The New Jersey Historic Trust has recommended the municipality for the half-million dollar grant from the Preserve New Jersey Historic Preservation Fund, according to South Orange Village President Sheena Collum.

The award was authorized on Oct. 17, but still needs to be approved by the New Jersey governor and the Legislature before the funds are released.

“Kudos goes to our administration and our library staff for coordinating on this grant,” Collum wrote.
