South Orange Rescue Squad Begins 2012 Fund Drive

The all-volunteer squad is the main source of medical services in South Orange. It runs mostly on charitable donations.

With the season of giving well under way, the has announced the start of their 2012 Fund Drive.  Letters are being mailed to all businesses and residences in the Village this week.

Rescue Squad President Don Boyle says that the fund drive is the primary source of operating funds for the squad.

The fund drive begins with a mailing of donation requests to more than 7,000 addresses.  It is followed up with two reminder mailings later in the year.  In a typical year, about 750 responses are received, which cover about 65% of operating expenses.  The remainder has been covered in recent years by special gifts.
