South Orange School Snow Days, Delayed Openings: What To Do For 2016
Here's what to do school if school is cancelled or delayed this winter, South Orange.
South Orange, NJ – As North Jersey hunkers down for a possible nor’easter/snowstorm that forecasters say is “increasingly likely” to hit Friday afternoon, it’s helpful for local parents to brush up on what to do in event of a school snow day.

Here’s what the South Orange-Maplewood School District says to do for snow days, cancellations and delayed openings for the 2015-16 school year.
In event of a delayed opening, all elementary and middle schools will postpone opening for two hours. All CHS students and staff should report to school at 10 a.m.

In event of an all-day closing, announcements will be made on the following AM radio station – WINS (1010), and the following TV stations: WNBC (Ch. 4), WABC (Ch. 7), WNYW (Ch.5), News12 NJ, and CCN (Ch. 35 in Maplewood, FIOS Channel 22 in Maplewood and Channel 19 in South Orange), and a message will be posted on the district webpage: www.southorangemaplewood.org.
“A call will be made to all district families and staff to announce either a delayed opening or all-day closing,” school officials state on the district website. “Please alert the secretary in your child’s school if your telephone number changes.”
