In South Orange: Seton Hall To Host Community and Police Town Forum Saturday

The public event will touch upon the "need for mutually respectful relationships between police and the communities they serve."

SOUTH ORANGE, NJ — In light of the recent tragic shootings in St. Anthony, MN, Baton Rouge and Dallas, the Seton Hall Black Alumni Committee will host a Joint Public and Law Enforcement Town Hall Meeting at the university on Saturday.

The free event is part of Seton Hall’s 2016 Black Alumni Weekend, and will touch upon the “crucial need for trusting, mutually respectful and productive relationships between police and the communities they serve.”

Town hall panelists include several Seton Hall Alumni serving in law enforcement, media and the nonprofit sectors, according to a news release.

The event is open to students, SHU faculty and staff and local residents. It’s slated for 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. on Saturday, Aug. 13, at Seton Hall University’s Nursing Building, Room 113 Amphitheatre, 400 South Orange Avenue in South Orange.
