Stove Fire on Audley Street
The occupant was sent to St. Barnabas with minor burns on both hands.
The fire department responded to a stove fire on Audley Street shortly after 5:30 p.m. on Monday.
Grease on the stove caused a fire to flare up, and the home owner tried to extinguish it by removing a pot from the house. He sustained minor burns to both hands and was taken to St. Barnabas for treatment, according to Fire Chief Jeff Markey.
A Maplewood engine also responded to the scene, since South Orange firefighters were simultaneously responding to a call on Hoskier Road, which turned out to be a malfunctioning alarm, and had an engine in Orange.
