Two-Car Collision on Valley St. by CHS

Equipment was needed to pry the passenger door off one vehicle.

At 2:26 p.m. Thursday afternoon, police radio reported a two-car collision on Valley Street directly in front of the A&P supermarket at the corner of the Columbia High School fields.

Witnesses reported that no pedestrians were involved but that the female driver of the black Dodge sedan that was hit appeared to be in serious condition, as police and fire personnel used equipment to pry off the passenger-side door.

"They ripped it right off," said Columbia High School junior Nathan Tessler, who, along with fellow juniors David Hoffman and Meredith Crane, provided an account of the accident's aftermath.
