USCIS Awards JVS with Grant to Provide Citizenship Instruction and Naturalization Services

$250,000 grant allows JVS to help legal permanent residents prepare and apply for U.S. citizenship through free classes

EAST ORANGE, NJ – Jewish Vocational Service of MetroWest NJ (JVS) recently announced that it has received a competitive $250,000 two-year grant from the United States Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS). The grant allows JVS and their partner, Catholic Charities of the Archdiocese of Newark, to help legal permanent residents prepare and apply for U.S. citizenship through free instruction and naturalization services. JVS has developed a curriculum that focuses on all aspects of the citizenship exam and interview, while Catholic Charities provides legal assistance in completing the N-400 Application for Naturalization.

“Hundreds of individuals who are determined to acquire U.S. citizenship will benefit from this generous grant. We are excited to offer these classes and provide others with the proper resources needed to achieve their goals at no cost,” said Addy Bonet CEO of JVS.

JVS is gearing up to hold classes at Orange Public Library, located at 348 Main Street. Sessions will occur every Monday and Wednesday from 6 -8 p.m. for a ten-week period. Both registration and the first class begin on February 15. All prospective registrants must come equipped with their Green Card in order to be considered.
