Woman Shot in Calf on Hamilton Rd. Saturday Night
A 25-year-old Bloomfield woman was shot in the calf, taken to UMDNJ for treatment, and released.
A 25-year-old Bloomfield woman was shot in the calf in front of a Hamilton Road residence on Saturday shortly before 10:30 p.m.
It appears that shots were fired at a group of people standing in front of 607 Hamilton Road from a car or by individuals on foot, according to Chief James Chelel, who said police were interviewing witnesses on Monday. "It does not appear to be a random act," he said.
The victim was treated at UMDNJ and released. The incident marks the first shooting of the year in South Orange, Chelel said.
