20 Encouraging Letters Sent To Springfield 4th Grader

Emma Spektor, who hasn't returned to school due to bullying, received the heartfelt encouraging letters from students and a teacher.

SPRINGFIELD, NJ — Springfield fourth-grader Emma Spektor, who hasn't returned to school since September due to bullying, received more than 20 encouraging letters from another school district.

"Emma was deeply touched by such a wonderful gesture from the Long Branch Middle School teacher and her entire class," Emma's mom, Irina Spektor, said.

Emma received more than 20 letters, filled with heartfelt encouraging messages from the students and the teacher.

"It certainly gives us hope that there are still some good people in the world," Irina said.

Spektor, a Thelma L. Sandmeier School fourth-grader, has not attended class since September, after her mother refused to return her due to bullying issues. That drew a lot of attention in the community and beyond.

Most recently parents packed a Springfield board of education meeting where many shared similar bullying problems with their children.
