The police department is marking the second anniversary of the death of Detective John P. Patrick, who died Oct. 21, 2024, from injuries sustained in the line of duty.

While on active duty Oct. 6, 2024, Patrick suffered a medical episode stemming from an injury he sustained while serving as an instructor during departmental training.

The department remembered Patrick as a loving family man who left behind his wife, two young children and many other family members, adding that his loss left a lasting void within the Springfield Police Department family.

Appointments are encouraged, though walk-ins are welcome. Donors can make an appointment online using sponsor code 73191.
