Art, Reading, and Other Great Special Needs Programs Continue

Mask Making Art Group and Reading Club for Youth with Special Needs 

Mask Making Art Group - children enjoy hands-on mask-making including designing, making and painting their own masks. masks. At the end of the sessions, your child will have her/his very own mask to take home and show off, while having an opportunity to improve socialization, taking turns, fine and gross motor skills, and working with others in a group.  Led by Cindy Hamilton, Certified Art Instructor and Art Therapist. Wednesdays, 4:00-4:45pm.  May

7-28.  Price is $40 for the four sessions.

Reading Club is designed for children ages 5-9 to help struggling or reluctant readers experience the joys of reading.  In a completely embarrassment and failure free setting, the class will capitalize on strengths, instill self-confidence and foster a Can-Do attitude to help children read more confidently.  Participants work on core skills depending on your child's needs (such as decoding, word attack, comprehension, making appropriate reading choices) using books, games, music and other fun activities.  Led by Sarah Hanson, Certified Teacher.  Wednesdays, 4:45-5:30pm. May 13, 20, 27, and June 10. 

Price is $52 for the four sessions.  A Reading Camp will run during July, so please inquire.

Both instructors have extensive experience working with students with unique needs. As always, our trained and experienced teen Peer Mentors will be at every class to help the students participate, learn, and have fun.
