AWARD WINNING ITALIAN PIANIST TO PERFORM AT SPRINGFIELD FREE PUBLIC LIBRARY

The Springfield Free Public Library will present a piano
recital by Andrea Tamburelli at 2:00 PM on Saturday, May 10, in the library’s
Donald B. Palmer Museum.   Currently in
the United States as an exchange student to 
the department of music at Montclair State University, Mr. Tamburelli
has received extensive training at a number of major European institutions including
The Academy of Music in Rome, Music Academy of Fiesole (Italy), Conservatorio
di Musica “Jacopo Tomadini” in Udine (Italy), Royal Conservatoire in Brussels,
Hochschule fur Music and Theater in Bern, Royal College of Music in Stockholm,
and the Sibelius Academy in Helsinki. 
His list of awards and competitions since 2009 includes “New Pianistic
Cup” in Orsino (Italy), Delphic Committee international piano competition in
Kiev (Ukraine), international piano competition in Treviso (Italy), Premio
Crescendo Florence, Andrea Baldi Piano Award in Bologna, New Piano Talents
Competition in Milan, Citta di Cervo international piano competition in Cervo
(Italy), and the international piano competition in Guastalla (Italy).    



                Mr.
Tamburelli’s performance at the library will include the  piano sonata op. 2, no. 3 in C major, by
Ludwig van Beethoven;  Frederic Chopin’s
Etude op. 10, no. 1 in C major and Etude op. 25, no. 11 in a minor; Franz
Liszt’s Rhapsody no. 9 in e-flat major and Sergei Prokofiev’s piano sonata no.
7 in b-flat major.   The recital will be
performed on the library’s vintage Chickering piano, an instrument built by a
company that was prominent in the manufacture of American made pianos during
the early part of the twentieth century.
