ELIZABETH, NJ -- Benedictine Academy, the all-female Catholic college prep high school located in Elizabeth, is celebrating its one hundredth anniversary year with several special events designed to encourage students, parents, alumnae and the community to participate in honoring the Academy’s important milestone. The first event in 2015 is:
- Night of Artistic Expression, an inspired evening showcasing the artistic talents of students, faculty, and community. Wincey Terry-Bryant, an acclaimed performer, music educator and graduate of Benedictine Academy, will serve as the emcee and perform several of her selections from her newest CD. The event at Benedictine Academy’s auditorium will be held on Friday, February 20, 2015 at 7:00 p.m. An art wall with art which can be purchased will be open to the public at 6:30 p.m. and at intermission. The public is invited to attend this event. Admission is $10 (adults), $5 (students) and $3 (students in advance). Tickets available at the door. Refreshments are complimentary.
Ashley Powell, BA English teacher, is in her third year as the event’s producer. Proceeds from the event will fund publication of In Depth the students’ Literary Arts magazine (moderated by Ms. Powell) in the spring. The theme of this edition will be identity--”Who are we as we hit our centennial year?” With the larger audience anticipated this year, the Literary Arts club members hope to raise enough money to have the magazine printed in color.

Benedictine Academy (BA) was founded by the Benedictine Sisters of Elizabeth in 1915 to serve young women in Elizabeth and surrounding communities.
