Attracting millennial talent to insurance agencies in NJ

A large number of college students today have no idea what field they want to go into. They are forced into declaring a major within the first two years of school. Colleges and universities put a lot of pressure on 17 and 18 year olds to have their lives all figured out.  They start college majoring in one thing, change their majors three times, only to earn a degree in something else.

Finally, they graduate with a degree and go on to work for a company totally unrelated. There is nothing wrong with this approach. Students might want to consider working for an Insurance Agency.

Insurance is a very stable industry. Unfortunately, there is a misconception that Insurance is boring however, there is so much to learn. One never knows everything in this field. There is continuous learning taking place. Selling insurance can also provide a very lucrative income. Most importantly, insurance agents help their clients protect themselves against life’s many risks.

Agencies that are looking to hire have a variety of ways that they can recruit new college grads. Here are three ways to recruit new grads:

1.)    Craigslist

Over the last couple of years Craigslist has gotten a bad rep for their classified ads, however many people still use their services to buy used items and recruit for their companies.  In order to stand out among all the bogus work from home ads and telemarketing schemes, be specific in your job description posting. Be sure to include the job title, main tasks, brief company history and salary range.
