Hello, World

Greetings, Springfield Patch Community.  I’m David Pace, and I’m honored to be blogging here on Springfield Patch.  I am very much delinquent in creating my first blog entry, so I’m going to try to make this a relatively quick one.  In this entry, I want to talk briefly about who I am, and what I’d like to do with this blog.

I’ve lived here in Springfield for about the last 4 and a half years, and have much longer ties to our little town via my wife and other family.  I think I can be characterized in a great many ways depending on the lens you’re using to evaluate me.  I’m an IT Manager by trade with a Computer Engineering educational background.  I’m a husband, home owner, pet caretaker, avid reader, big sports fan, frequent movie watcher, and not frequent enough game player.  I’m a huge Jets fan who’s gone to nearly every home game for the past 15 years.  I like to cook a lot, especially BBQ, and have recently tried to focus more on healthy options.  I read a great deal about health, nutrition, fitness, and wellness, and am constantly trying to improve myself on those fronts, usually with mixed results.

I am completely fascinated by the technological revolution our world has been experiencing the past many years, and I decided to reply to the article on Springfield Patch calling for volunteer bloggers.  I’ve been personally very interested in the under-served “hyper-local” niche on the Internet, and have been watching Patch with some interest for the last year or so.  Meanwhile, I love to explore our little town of Springfield and the greater area of Union County, NJ, and all that they have to offer.

I would like to use this Blog to discover Springfield and Union County with you all - to discuss what we love about the area, possible opportunities to make it even better, and any other tangentially or at least marginally related topics which come to mind.  I am looking very forward to the discussion.
