Bringing Springfield into the 21st century has and continues to be one of my goals as your elected official. Since bringing GovDeals.com to Springfield in 2010 we have generated $102,194.01 to date in revenue from surplus equipment. GovDeals.com is an online internet service that allows various government agencies to sell surplus and confiscated items via the internet. The township has sold unserviceable or outdated items to include trucks, cars, air raid sirens, bicycles, phones, computer and electronic equipment, and other miscellaneous items. The 1984 Front Loader only had trade-in value of $6,000 but was sold $20,000 on GovDeals. This sale went above anyone’s expectation. By putting items on GovDeals we are able to advertise nationally anytime as opposed to advertising once a year in the local paper. The Township Committee approves all items that are sold on GovDeals by resolution.
