Temple Sha’arey Shalom of Springfield presents its fourth special event in honor of Rabbi Joshua Goldstein, the Temple's Rabbi, who is retiring on June 30, 2012 after 30 years.
On Friday, April 27 at 8pm, the Temple's annual "Yom Ha'atsmaut" Shabbat will pay tribute to Israel's 64th Birthday with a repeat performance by the premier Israeli Jazz Ensemble, Seeds of Sun.
They will accompany the Shabbat service at 8pm with participation from the Temple Choir. Following the service, Seeds of Sun will present a concert program, "A Tribute to the Music of Naomi Shemer, Israel's National Music Legend." The community is invited to join us for this special evening. Seeds of Sun have established themselves as the leading Israeli jazz ensemble in North America, blending music written in Israel in a Jazz and World Music setting. The band has played on prestigious stages, including The Kennedy Center in Washington, DC and the 92nd Street Y in New York City. They have traveled as far as Hong Kong, Viet Nam and the Philippines, introducing a new and exciting sound of Israel to the world.

- Sunday, May 20, 4pm: Yom Yerushalayim Concert with the New Jersey Cantors Concert Ensemble, $18 in advance; $20 at the door
- Friday, June 15, 8pm: Erev Shabbat Service featuring the klezmer sounds of the Hester Street Troupe
- Friday, June 22, 8pm: Erev Shabbat Service, followed by Toasts in Honor of Rabbi Goldstein

Erev Shabbat services take place from the second through the last Friday of each month at 8pm and ALL ARE WELCOME.
