Lecture on the Khazar Empire by Sam Mahmoud

Lecture on the Khazar Empire by Sam Mahmoud will take place at the Springfield Public Library on Monday, October 6 at 7 p.m.

Sam Mahmoud is a member, trustee and Programs Director of the Westfield Historical Society. He has presented many programs on ancient history.  He is a lecturer and former columnist at the Home News Tribune and the Courier News.

The Khazar Empire existed from 740 to 1200 between Turkey, Iraq and Russia. It presents an interesting paradigm for events  going on in the area today in that rather than be divided by religious conflicts, the Royal Family of Khazai, as they were known, converted to Judaism in the eighth century.

Thus lecture is sponsored by the Brooklyn College Alumni Association, Mid-NJ chap
