Lunchtime Film Series at Springfield Public Library on Monday, April 27th

Monday, April 27 at 1 pm the "Barbara Stanwyck Classics" series begins. Springfield Free Public Library, 66 Mountain Ave.

Directed by Billy Wilder and adapted from a James Cain novel by Wilder and Raymond Chandler, this 1944 film represents the classic film noir urban crime drama involving a greedy, weak man trapped by a cold evil woman amid the dark shadows and atmospheric lighting of the then modern city.  Ms. Stanwyck, Fred MacMurray and Edward G. Robinson give some of their best performances.  James Seitz was the cinematographer.  106 minutes. 
Admission is free.  Patrons can bring lunch - juice or coffee and cookies are served at 12:30 pm.
