The National Football League agreed this week to hold the 2014 Superbowl in New Jersey. Northjersey.com reports the game will be the first time a Superbowl is played in a "cold-weather, open-air stadium."
The announcement of the deal was a source of geographic confusion (the Tampa Tribune's Sunday headline read "Super Bowl race appears to be rigged for N.Y.") and Jersey bashing (the Drudge Report's headline read "BRRRR! 2014 Super Bowl goes to ... North Jersey?"). But nonetheless, it's fun and good news. And also, since the article mentions that the deal garnered the endorsement of Springfield resident and Minnesota Vikings owner Zygi Wilf, it's a local story, too.
