Beckerath Organ Recital by Brian Harlow at St. Stephen's Church October 19, 4 pm

Brian Harlow, an active recitalist, accompanist, choir director, teacher, and composer in the greater New York City area, will play the opening recital in the 45th season of Beckerath organ recitals at St. Stephen’s Church, 119 Main Street, Millburn, on Sunday afternoon, October 19, at 4 p.m.
Dr. Harlow will perform a varied program of organ repertoire ranging from the 17th to the 21st centuries. At its core will be the music of Johann Sebastian Bach, including the delightful Trio Sonata in C major. The recital will also include music by North German Baroque composers Vincent Lübeck and Georg Böhm, as well as two composers from Massachusetts: Variations on ‘Wondrous Love’ by Daniel Pinkham, formerly of King’s Chapel in Boston, and Suite Breve by Carson Cooman, Composer in Residence at the Memorial Church of Harvard University.
In addition to serving as Organist and Choirmaster of St. Luke’s Episcopal Church in Gladstone, Brian Preston Harlow is organ accompanist for the Rutgers University Chorus, Newark Campus; Choral Accompanist for the Somerset Hills School District; and the Church Concert Series Director for Music in the Somerset Hills. He has performed throughout the United States and Europe, including collaboratively with instrumentalists and choirs and in duet with Christopher Jennings as Duo Organists.
Dr. Harlow holds the degrees of Doctor of Musical Arts, Master of Musical Arts and Master of Music from Yale University School of Music, where he studied with Martin Jean and Thomas Murray, as well as the Bachelor of Music degree with High Distinction from Indiana University School of Music, where he was a student of Marilyn Keiser. He received the Associate Diploma and two examination awards from the American Guild of Organists. Dr. Harlow is a member of the board of the Metropolitan New Jersey chapter of the American Guild of Organists, and Instrumental Music Reviewer for the Journal of The Association of Anglican Musicians.
