Police say that Brian Fitzharris attempted to exchange a new pair of shoes for an old pair at the route 22 Sports Authority on Friday, May 21. Fitzharris, 34, of Winfield, reportedly tried on a pair of sneakers, left his old shoes in the box the new shoes came in and tried to dash with the new shoes on his feet—a maneuver police termed a "wear &amp; run" theft. He reportedly left the store with the shoes. But police were able to use the store's surveillance video to track his license plate number. He was contacted by Detective William Cieri, and agreed to surrender himself and the shoes to Springfield police. Police charged him with shoplifting.
