Prepare for Pat Down and Bag Search at Graduation, Say Springfield Police

Prepare to have your bags searched and be subject to a pat down at Jonathan Dayton High School's graduation ceremony this evening.

This announcement comes from Dayton Principal Elizabeth Cresci, who sent the following message to parents and guardians this morning, "We have just (been) informed by the Springfield Police Department that, due to heightened security in the nation, Kean University's security policies dictate that any person entering the auditorium will be subject to bag search and pat down.

"We appreciate your cooperation in this matter, and we look forward to a wonderful ceremony this evening."

The class of 2013 celebrates its graduation at 7 p.m. at Wilkins Theater at Kean University.
