Roadrunners End Season on a High Note

Finish season at 7 Wins, 2 Losses and 1 Tie.

The Springfield Roadrunners U14 Boys' travel team went out in style this past Sunday with a road victory over the Randolph Rovers at Freedom Park by a score of 3-1.

The Roadrunners (7W 1T 2L) defeated the Rovers for a third consecutive time spanning two seasons.

A 30 foot blast from Midfielder Matt Pacheco opened the scoring 20 minutes into the match. Randolph tied the game five minutes from halftime.

Pacheco netted his second goal of the game five minutes into the second half assisted by midfielder Yosuf Salomon. An insurance goal by Asmar Johnson later in the half sealed the fate of the Rovers. Once again, defense was the story as the Roadrunners outshot Randolph (17-6).

Springfield, winners of their last four games of the season fell a point short to flight winners, the Hanover Warriors.  During the last four seasons they accumulated a record of 26 wins, 6 losses, & 8 ties. In addition, during five entered tournaments, they won 2 while finishing second 3 times compiling a 16-4 won lost record.

Playing well during their tenure with the Roadrunners were Goalie Ethan Siegel, forwards Alberto Montalva, Jason Barreira, Yosuf Salomon, midfielders Austin Lopes, Kevin Casteblanco, Stephano Gonzaga, Johnny Chumbiauca, Kevin Chabla, defensemen Patrick Zahn, Danny Micolta, Noah Guber, Arrington Joyner Corniffe and captain Tyler Citrin.

The Springfield Roadrunners look forward to potentially playing in flight one of the  boys U15/16 flight in the Spring of 2011.
