Saint James the Apostle Parish to Host Evangelization Conference

Catholic Evangelization conference to feature Julie V. Burkey, D.Min.

On Saturday, February 28, 2015, Saint James the Apostle Parish will host a conference entitled Catholic Evangelization from 8:30 AM until 12:30 PM in Hatcher Hall in Saint James the Apostle School, 45 South Springfield Ave, Springfield. The morning will include prayer, reflection and discussion of the following topics:

  • Is evangelization just another “new thing” in our Church?
  • What are the defining elements of Catholic evangelization?
  • What is the role of the Holy Spirit in evangelization?
  • Why did John Paul II introduce the concept of the New Evangelization and what does it mean?
  • What is Pope Francis’ “style” of evangelization? Is it something we can imitate?
  • How can we live out the call to evangelize in our daily lives?
  • ...and more!

The conference will be facilitated by Julie V. Burkey, D.Min., Coordinator, Workplace Spirituality & Evangelization Initiative, and Adjunct Professor of Pastoral Theology. Dr. Burkey holds a Master’s degree from Immaculate Conception Seminary and a Doctor of Ministry degree from The Catholic University of America. Dr. Burkey teaches Catholic Evangelization, New Evangelization and Catechesis, and Theology of Work.
