Saint James the Apostle School Announces National Geographic Society Geography Bee Winners

On Friday, January 16, 2015, Saint James the Apostle School in Springfield held its annual Geography Bee. Ten students from grades 4 through 8 competed head-to-head using materials prepared by the National Geographic Society. The contest is designed to encourage teachers to include geography in their classrooms, spark student interest in the subject, and increase public awareness about geography. Pictured from left to right: Andrea Rojas (3rd place), Sean Valente (1st place) and James McElroy (2nd place). The next step for Sean is to take a qualifying test to see if he is eligible to compete at the state level.
