A walk through one of Union County's most beautiful natural areas—Briant Park—will take place in the park—on the Springfield-Summit border— on Saturday, September 22 at 2 pm as the St. James Nature and Hiking Club kicks off another action-packed season. This will be a slow and easy walk and an opportunity to meet other St. James parishioners and fellow Springfielders. The group will gather on Briant Parkway—outside the park and just off Shunpike Road-Orchard Street. Those who wish to participate can call Bob or Joan Faszczewski up to 11 pm on Friday, September 21 or email them at writersgate48@verizon.net.

Join Durand-Hedden as noted historic document expert Stuart Lutz leads an illustrated talk on antique manuscripts on Sunday, May 17, from 1:30 pm to 3 pm, at Durand-Hedden House in Maplewood. Lutz will discuss what is available, pricing, and the question he gets most of all: “How do you know it is real?”
Lutz has been operating his business from South Orange for 35 years and makes frequent appearances on the History Channel’s hit show Pawn Stars. He is one of the few experts in the US who can authenticate documents and autographs. Lutz will demystify the work of a professional document and manuscript collector and seller, and display documents related to the Revolutionary War, the Civil War, and the Vietnam War, as well as those associated with famous figures. Lutz’s Vietnam collection is the largest in private hands.
The talk will include a general Q&amp;A. However, we ask that participants not bring documents to be assessed or evaluated. 
Lutz’s oral history book, The Last Leaf: Voices of History’s Last-Known Survivors,&nbsp;will be available for sale and autographing at the conclusion.
While this event is free, please consider purchasing a donation ticket. All donations are welcome, appreciated, and support Durand-Hedden's mission, upkeep, and community events. "How do you know it's real?" A talk with document expert Stuart Lutz

Hosted by the Borough of Kenilworth, the Boulevard will be closed to vehicle traffic from 14th St. to 23rd St. and transformed into a giant block party from 10&nbsp;am-4:00 pm. This event will feature quality exhibitors, a special crafter’s section, lots of great food, kiddie rides, a kids’ area, live music and performances, local merchants &amp; civic organizations, and a large classic car show. The car show starts on the west end of the event at 14th Street.

SHOPPING Shop till you drop along the Boulevard with over 100 quality exhibitors selling jewelry, handbags, sports collectibles, clothing, home decor, and more. There is a special section featuring handmade crafts from local and nearby crafters and artisans, with unique, one-of-a-kind items.
LIVE ENTERTAINMENT Whether on stage or under our music tents, you will enjoy the sounds of some very talented cover bands, soloists, dancers, demonstrations from the local karate &amp; dance studios, and more. It’s also a chance to kick back and take a break in the music section, filled with tables and chairs for your use. This year we have 2 great bands: Cold Sweat from&nbsp;10am-1pm and Theatre Rock from 2pm-4pm.&nbsp;
KIDS ZONE Plus lots of fun stuff in the kids’ zone all day, where children will enjoy a section filled with kiddie bounce rides, slides, interactive blow-ups, face painting, sand art &amp; kids’ games, and temporary tattoos, just to name a few.
FOOD TRUCKS As you stroll along the Blvd, stop to have a bite to eat and sit at tables in our live music area. Come hungry and enjoy gourmet food truck favorites like sausage &amp; pepper sandwiches, cheesesteaks, kettle corn, chicken fingers, ice cream, zeppoles, shish kabobs, gyros, fresh-cut fries, fresh-squeezed lemonade, Italian ice, and many other great gourmet foods.
CAR SHOW This year’s event will again feature a car show of&nbsp;Custom…Classic…Street Rod…Muscle&nbsp;Cars&nbsp;in front of Harding School (Enter from Boulevard &amp; North 14th&nbsp;St./use&nbsp;426 Boulevard in your GPS). Set up starts after 10 am. Registration&nbsp; – Day of Show.&nbsp; Cars must be registered by 1:00 PM to be judged. Trophies for Winners!
