Star Ledger Article by Eliot Caroom/The Star-Ledger on 6/13/2010 our Mayor correctly states based on risk assessments and past fire historical data, the risk is low in our town. Hence the reason we saw no FF or civilian losses.
"Mayor Ziad Andrew Shehady maintains that there are enough firefighters on each shift except for unplanned absences like sick days. Shehady, who served as vice-chairman of the township council’s public safety sub-committee last year, said that agreements with neighboring municipalities mean that there are “always quick and adequate firefighting capabilities at the scene,” and said that was the case in the Forest Drive fire. "
And furthermore we saw no insurance increases as some say is the baseless reason we cant adapt to part time paid which maintains our staffing and response times while saving 2-2.5 million in wasteful spending.
