Suspicious Package Was Coffee
While it made trouble brew, the package was ultimately not grounds for worry.

In the end, the suspicious package found outside Springfield town hall was a threat to no one except people who can't stand decaf.
Springfield Police have released an official account of the suspicious package reported on Tuesday, Dec. 7. According to the police report, shortly before 8 a.m., a township employee called police about a 12 inch by 8 inch cardboard box that had been placed on the top of a set of stairs leading to a building entrance.
The box, secured with clear plastic tape, was labeled with the name of a coffee company.
Because the package was found close to the town hall, police became concerned.
The Springfield Fire Department responded to the scene and the Union County Police Department Bomb Squad also responded to the scene. Employees were reportedly evacuated from the building and brought to a safe location.
The Bomb Squad examined the package with X-ray equipment and determined the cardboard box did not warrant further investigation.
When the box was opened, the case was closed. Inside, it contained packages of decaffeinated coffee.
