Temple Sha'arey Shalom to hold Passover program for young families

Cooking and other interactive activities for grades K-2 and their parents this Saturday, March 14 is open to all

Families with children in kindergarten through 2nd grade are invited to spend a morning of cooking, singing, eating and learning about the Jewish holiday of Passover at Temple Sha’arey Shalom this Saturday, March 14 from 9am to 11:45am. Passover celebrates the Israelites’ exodus from slavery in ancient Egypt to freedom. This year’s holiday begins Friday evening, April 3 and ends Saturday evening, April 11.

Saturday’s program is open to Temple members and non-members. The first part of the morning is for children only while the second part is for the entire family. Cantor Amy Daniels, who also serves as Sha’arey Shalom’s Religious School Director, says, ”Children will learn how to prepare the traditional foods for the Seder plate and set the Seder table. Seder is the festive meal served the first and second nights of Passover. At 10:45am, parents will join our ‘mini model Seder’ which will familiarize everyone with the basics of conducting an engaging Seder for young families. Each family will also receive a A Children’s Haggadah, a delightful children’s version of the Passover story, for their home Seder.”

To RSVP or for additional information, call the Temple office at 973.379.5387 or email office@shaarey.org. The cost is $25 per family and includes all food and a haggadah. Temple Sha’arey Shalom is located at 78 South Springfield Avenue, Springfield.
