Threat Made Against Springfield High School Causes Police Investigation

Breaking: The high school is offering support staff in the building to help students process feelings of anxiety as a result.

SPRINGFIELD, NJ — An threat was made against Jonathan Dayton High School Monday morning causing a police investigation, Superintendent Norman Francis announced.

The "inappropriate statement was made on a social media platform, that indicated a threat upon our school," Francis said.

The Springfield Police Department were able to identify the people involved and resolved the issue before the end of the school day.

Police determined that the threat was not credible, and the school was cleared to continue with the day, Francis said.

Springfield Police are continuing their investigation.

"We are aware that many students became aware of the inappropriate statements via their social media accounts, and that there is an understandable sense of anxiety," Francis said.

The high school is offering support staff through school counselors in the building to help students process these feelings.
