2 Cars Stolen, 8 Burglarized Over 3 Days In Summit

All of the vehicles were left unlocked or also had the keys left inside, Summit Police report.

SUMMIT, NJ — A total of two cars were stolen and eight were burglarized within a span of three days last week in Summit, according to police.

Summit Police Blotter:

On May 7 at 7:21 a.m.: A report was taken for a theft from a motor vehicle. The incident occurred during the overnight hours, where two vehicles were parked in a Sunset Drive driveway, unsecured. The victim reported spare change was removed from both vehicles, as well as a key to one of the cars that was left inside of it during the night. Total value of the stolen items was approximately $220.

On May 7 at 11:36 a.m.: A report was taken for a theft of a motor vehicle from a Sunset Drive residence. The victim reported the incident occurred in the overnight hours between 5 p.m. and 8 a.m. The vehicle, which had been left unsecured with the key fob inside, was described as a tan Lexus RX350. Total value of the stolen car was approximately $16,800.

On May 7 at 11:44 a.m.: A report was taken for a theft from a motor vehicle at a Sunset Drive residence. The victim reported the incident occurred between 8 p.m.and 6:45 a.m. where the vehicle was left unsecured inside the unsecured garage. Taken from the car was approximately $20 in change.

On May 7 at 5:24 p.m.: A report was taken for a theft from a motor vehicle at a Sunset Drive residence. The victim reported the incident occurred between 10 p.m. on May 6 and 8 a.m. on May 7. Taken from the unsecured vehicle was approximately $1 in loose change.

On May 7 at 7:26 p.m.: A report was taken for a theft from a motor vehicle at a Sunset Drive residence. The incident occurred between 7:35 p.m. on May 6 and 7:30 a.m. on May 7. Taken from the unsecured vehicle was a black Coach wallet. Total value of the stolen items was approximately $140.

On May 7 at 7:44 p.m.: A report was taken for a theft from two motor vehicles. The victim reported the incident occurred between 11 a.m. on May 5 and 2 p.m. on May 7, where both vehicles had been left unsecured. Taken from the two cars was approximately $10 in change.

On May 10 at 7:41 a.m.: A report was taken for a theft from an unsecured motor vehicle at River Road residence. The incident occurred between 11 p.m. on May 9 and 6:59 a.m. on May 10. Taken was a black Guess wallet with miscellaneous personal items. Total value of the stolen items was approximately $60.

On May 10 at 9:55 a.m.: A report was taken for a stolen motor vehicle from a Greenfield Avenue residence. The victim reported the incident occurred between 7 p.m. on May 9 and 6 a.m. on May 10, where the vehicle had been left unsecured with the key fob inside. Taken was a black 2013 Infiniti G37X valued at approximately $18,000.
