2 Luxury Cars Stolen In Summit, Left Unlocked With Keys Inside

SUMMIT, NJ — Two luxury cars were stolen from Summit on Tuesday and both were left unlocked with the key fobs inside.

A Hawthorne Place resident reported a 2017 Mercedes Benz GLS worth $67,000 was stolen sometime between 10:30 and 11:25 p.m. The vehicle had been left unlocked, with the key fob inside the car, police report.

A Hobart Avenue resident also reported a 2016 Land Rover LR4 worth approximately $45,000 was stolen sometime between 10:30 p.m. on Tuesday and 6:30 a.m. on Wednesday. The vehicle had also been left unlocked, with the key fob inside the car, police reported.

Another suspicious incident was also reported on Tuesday at 10:03 p.m. when a Surrey Road resident saw a man wearing a hooded sweatshirt, sweatpants and sneakers run up their driveway where their vehicles were parked.

A short time later, the individual ran back down the driveway towards the street. The victim’s vehicles were left unlocked in the driveway, with nothing removed, police reported.

"Residents, please remember to lock your vehicles and remove the key fobs as well as all personal belongings," Summit Police report.
