4 Summit Locals Arrested For DWI, Drugs, Simple Assault

4 Summit residents were arrested on a variety of charges, including driving while intoxicated, drug possession and simple assault.

SUMMIT, NJ — A total of four Summit residents were arrested on a variety of charges, including driving while intoxicated, drug possession and simple assault, according to the police blotter.

Summit Police Blotter:

On Oct. 17 at 12:59 p.m.: A report was taken for a theft of cash. The incident occurred on Oct. 16 between 11 a.m. and noon while the victim was a patient at Overlook Hospital. Removed from an unattended purse was approximately $30 in cash.

On Oct. 17 at 6:25 p.m.: A report was taken for a theft of checks from a Woodland Avenue apartment. The victim reported to have ordered new checks in the mail, which never arrived. Upon receiving notification from the bank, it was determined 12 checks had been cashed fraudulently totaling between $4,000 and $5,000.

On Oct. 17 at 8:04 p.m.: A report was taken for a theft of flip-flops from an apartment on New England Avenue. The victim advised the theft occurred between 6:18 and 7:23 p.m. Taken from the apartment was a pair of black Gucci flip-flops, valued at approximately $190.

On Oct. 18: Brendan W. Gilchrist, 36, of West Milford was arrested and charged with possession of controlled dangerous substance (CDS). Gilchrist was released with a pending court date.

On Oct. 18 at 2:25 p.m.: A report was taken for a theft of a cell phone from an employee cart at Overlook Hospital. The incident occurred on Oct. 16 between 1:20 and 1:45 p.m. The victim described the cell phone as an iPhone SE in a plastic case, unknown color, valued at approximately $100.

On Oct. 19: Anthony T. Connors, 32, of Summit was arrested for driving while intoxicated. Connors was released with a pending court date.

On Oct. 19: Nathaniel E. Francis, 29, of Summit was arrested and charged with possession of CDS. Francis was released with a pending court date.

On Oct. 19 at 7:13 p.m.: A report was taken for a theft of a laptop bag and tablet from a parked vehicle. The victim reported the incident occurred between 6:58 and 6:59 p.m. when the victim exited the vehicle and entered a business on Broad Street. Upon returning to the vehicle, the victim discovered the laptop bag
and tablet had been removed from the rear seat. The HP Tablet was located inside a purple laptop bag. Total value of the stolen items was approximately $1,050.

On Oct. 21 at 4:17 p.m.: A report was taken for a theft of a wallet from a business on Summit Avenue. The incident occurred around 3:37 p.m. on the same date. Taken from the business was a blue Prada wallet which contacted several credit cards and approximately $400 in cash. Total value of the stolen items was approximately $1,200.

On Oct. 24: Cleveland D. Fowler, 23, of New York, New York was arrested and charged with 2nd degree eluding. Fowler was issued his complaint and summonses while in custody of the Millburn Police Department.

On Oct. 25: Arnold E. Paz, 18, of Summit was arrested and charged with simple assault. Paz was released with a pending court date.

On Oct. 28: Fabian Barboza-Cordero, 24, of Summit was arrested and charged with driving while intoxicated. Mr. Barboza-Cordero was released with a pending court date.
