During the 16 years Dr. Robert Rubino has lived in Summit, he’s done far more than just list Summit as his address. He has built a successful medical practice in town and has taken an active role in the community as a Board member of the Colonial Crossroads Red Cross and member and current President of the Board of Health. He is a baseball coach with SJBB and with his wife Susan has been an active supporter of Reeves Reed Arboretum, Summit Public Arts program, PAL and other organizations that make Summit a great place to live.
Like many of us, Dr. Rubino is busy - as a father, a town doctor and businessman. With everything invested in Summit, he has decided to run for city council and take his public service to the next level. Dr. Rubino has been active in Summit and now hopes to take the experiences he has gained as an involved Summit citizen to help the town continue to thrive.
Dr. Rubino’s three children attend Lincoln-Hubbard and St. Teresa’s. As a parent, he has taken the time to understand the current issues, actively participate in the classrooms and exchanging ideas with fellow parents and administration. As he founder of the “Tomorrow’s MD’s” research and mentoring program at Summit high school, he continues to bring grant funding at no cost to the taxpayer or school system.

What is important for the town is that Dr. Rubino lives and works in Summit. Spending the majority of his time in town reinforces his desire to make downtown both safe and vibrant—a place where families can meet at the Farmer’s Market, where visitors can park and “shop local”, where restaurant patrons and commuters can feel safe walking any time of the day or night—really, a place to show what is best about New Jersey.
One of NJ Monthly Magazine’s “Top Docs” for multiple years, Dr. Rubino is nationally recognized as a leading expert in his field and a strong advocate for women and families. He has pioneered advances in healthcare through clinical research, publications, teaching and the development of novel surgical techniques. Dr. Rubino has built a well-regarded medical practice that was one of the first to use electronic medical records and modern information exchange. This expertise was applied to help the Summit Board of Health operate efficiently and more cost effectively.

As a member of the town council, representing Ward 1, Dr. Rubino intends to be inclusive and continue to build on the strong community bond by engaging fellow citizens, friends and neighbors who, like himself, are busy—but who also, like himself, care about Summit. He has a proven record of innovative thinking and will bring a fresh perspective and new ideas—based on successful performance and broad experience. Those who know Rob are well aware of his enthusiastic, positive outlook and sense of humor guided by a strong ethical standard. We would be fortunate to have a person with his qualifications and skill address public debate and the challenges of city council.
On any given day, Dr. Rubino can be found getting in his workout by running the streets of Summit—always welcoming residents to stop him and share their thoughts and concerns – or just run alongside him. For more information or to contact Rob please go to www.RubinoforCouncil.com
