Bowman Kicks Off 2019 Summit Common Council Candidacy

Summit, NJ - While much of New Jersey was focused on Cory Booker's presidential campaign announcement, Ward 2 Summit Common Councilman Steve Bowman announced his bid for re-election.

Bowman, a Republican, made the announcement at The Office Thursday night was joined by over 50 supporters including Senator Tom Kean, Assemblywoman Nancy Munoz and Assemblyman Jon Bramnick.

“I’m grateful to have so much support from the community as I kick off my campaign,” said Bowman “We live in one of the best town’s in the country, and it is my honor to serve my neighbors as a councilman. I will continue to bring fresh ideas and positive solutions to our local government and fight to reduce our tax burden while maximizing services."

Bowman earned his MBA from Rutgers University in the Singapore location and his undergraduate degree which is a BBA in Accounting from St. Bonaventure University. Bowman’s personal interests include working out daily at the Summit YMCA, playing golf and maintaining his historical home on Beekman Terrace, according to the Summit Republicans website.

Bowman also served on the board of Crestview Swim and Tennis Club, is an ordained elder at Central Presbyterian Church and volunteered with his daughter’s Girl Scout troop and also as a coach for his daughter’s softball team.
