CLUE: The Health Edition In Summit

Live version of the board game CLUE taught students about addiction in the Lawton C. Johnson Summit Middle School.

SUMMIT, NJ - It was Danielle DeGraw, in the classroom with the experiential education as Lawton C. Johnson Summit Middle School (LCJSMS) students learned about addiction through a live action version of the board game CLUE.

DeGraw’s 7th grade health class played the game to review their unit on addiction. The students started in the health room with a gallery walk scavenger hunt that led them to their first location around the school. Each location had a QR code. QR is a Quick Response Code that consists of black squares arranged in a square grid on a white background, which can be read by an imaging device such as a camera.

Once read, the data usually sends the user to a website. In this case, the QR code brought students to a video clue of a suspect's investigation file played out by LCJSMS teachers as CLUE characters. Each new location and video brought the students closer to their objectives.
