DOG OF THE WEEK - HELP LACIE FIND HER "FOREVER" HOME

Lacie is a 6 month old Carolina Dog mix. She will be a medium sized dog when she is fully grown.

Lacie is a 6 month old Carolina Dog (aka North American Native Dog) mix. She will be a medium sized dog when fully grown. When Home for Good Dog Rescue representatives first saw Lacie at a South Carolina high kill animal shelter, she was withdrawn and terrified. Lacie wouldn’t make eye contact and would tense up. Her life has not been off to a good start. With the love and patience from Lacie’s foster family, she is now learning to trust people.

Carolina dogs need exposure to social activity and make excellent family dogs once trained. True to the Carolina breed, Lacie is very active and playful. Lacie enjoys being with other dogs and is currently living in a foster home with two other dogs. Lacie is shy, but she eventually warms up once she is comfortable with her surroundings. With patience and positive reward-based training from her adopting family, Lacie will blossom into an amazing dog.

Lacie will be best suited in a home with another young, well-adjusted and playful dog. She needs a loving home environment to help her overcome her shyness and caring family members to help her work on her socialization, developing her self-confidence and trust in people. This is also why another dog in the adopter’s home is required for this adoption.

Carolina Dogs are natural runners so Lacie’s new home must have a fully fenced yard. Electric shock fences will not be considered. Lacie has a strong chase instinct so she will do best in a home without cats.

Lacie is mostly housebroken and sleeps very well in her crate. She enjoys going on long walks, running and playing in the yard, and playing with her toys. She is spayed, micro-chipped, and up-to- date with her vaccines. After such a rough start at life, Lacie deserves an extraordinary “forever” home.

About Home for Good Dog Rescue:

Home for Good is a volunteer-based, 501(c) (3) non-profit animal rescue. We are a 100 percent foster based organization with an office in Berkeley Heights, New Jersey. Our organization is dedicated to rescuing dogs from deplorable conditions in kill shelters, tending to their physical needs and finding them a new loving home where they can thrive.

At Home for Good, we seek the best treatment for our animals. We provide medical care, training, support and hope. Our dogs are vaccinated and ID micro-chipped. We rescue puppies and dogs that are facing euthanasia. Some require surgery from a specialist to repair broken limbs, while others may need additional rehabilitation time and specific medical care for respiratory illnesses, skin infections, heartworm treatments, and emergency surgeries. Through our adoption services, these loving animals are given a chance at a fulfilled life.
